Statement on the late Professor Jason Arday

The NHS Race and Health Observatory is devastated by the untimely and tragic death of Professor Jason Arday.

We extend our sincere condolences to Jason’s family. Our thoughts and hearts are with his loved ones at this harrowing time and we will give them our full support.

Jason sat on the NHS Race and Health Observatory’s Academic Reference Group for several years.  We were privileged to know and work with Jason, and are proud of his personal and academic achievements.

We remain deeply concerned about the targeted, unrelenting and unproven allegations made, the editorial undertones and hostile nature of these intrusive claims cannot be ignored and must be addressed.

Notwithstanding international media coverage, there have been around 300 articles on Jason over the last three weeks with endless social media discourse.

Jason was committed to tackling inequality and we are dedicated to honouring that mission and the fight for equity.

Jason will be deeply missed.
