Patient Experience and Trust in NHS Primary Care
Insights from a survey into the levels of trust that Black, Asian and ethnic minority patients have with NHS primary care service providers reveal high levels of mistrust.
Over 2,680 people competed the primary care ‘trust’ survey issued by the NHS Race and Health Observatory, with analysis undertaken by researchers from Oxford University. The findings are published in a new report Patient Experience and Trust in NHS Primary Care.
Despite primary care services regularly being the first point of contact with the NHS for patients, survey data and patient stories indicate a lack of trust amongst certain ethnic minority groups in the care and treatment received.
Responses from ethnic minority groups have been compared with White British participants across key health services including GP Practices, Community Nurses, Community Pharmacies, and Midwives. Work will now commence to support organisations in taking forward the report’s evidence-based recommendations.
