The Chief Executive of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, Eugine Yafele, has been appointed as a new Board member of the NHS Race and Health Observatory. Eugine will ensure a continued focus on acute delivery as the previous acute expert Board member Patricia Miller has taken on a new role.

Sickle Cell Bundle Cluster Randomised Trial Project

A recent parliamentary inquiry into avoidable deaths and failures of care for sickle cell patients in secondary care identified that too often acute painful sickle episodes are poorly managed by the NHS.  It recommended that the NHS Race and Health Observatory (NHSRHO) undertake a study into sickle cell care in relation to race and ethnicity.
